Macelwane (1909-1974), who was admitted to the Ohio bar in 1932. She practiced law for five years before her appointment as assistant prosecuting attorney in Lucas County. In 1951 she was the first woman appointed to be a judge on the Toledo Municipal Court, where she served until 1956. In 1956 Judge Macelwane was appointed the first woman judge on the Lucas County Common Pleas Court, a position she kept until her death in 1974. Images in this folder include portraits, newspaper articles, the Toledo Bar Association memorial, and excerpts from books and digital sources.

Most of her legal career was spent with Bill Culbert, but sent the last years of her practice with her son Robert at his Cincinnati law office.
